11 Product Recommendations that will Help you become a Superhost

Copy of Copy of What to buy to help you become a Superhost (1)If you are wondering, what is the easiest way to be a Superhost? Or, what products can I buy that will help make me a Superhost? Or, what do I need to buy for an Airbnb?

Well, you have come to the right place.  Although being a Superhost is about more than just buying some products, these strategically selected products will greatly help your chances of reaching Superhost Status.  If you haven’t already check out our Ultimate Airbnb Shopping Checklist, read it, and then add the items below to your list.

There are 6 categories guests rate upon their departure:

  • Accuracy
  • Check-in
  • Cleanliness
  • Communication
  • Location
  • Value

Each one of these subcategories contributes to a guest’s Overall Experience, which ultimately determines your Airbnb fate.  99% of the time, if you score 5 stars in the subcategories, you will score 5 stars in the Overall Experience.  If you are getting lower scores for a particular category, try picking up one of the items that we recommend.

You want guests to get a real feel for your space, which means being able to take accurate pictures of both the listing and the neighborhood. In order to do this, you need a way to update your listing pictures in real time to reflect any changes in amenities or decor.  And I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford to pay a professional photographer every time I buy a new table lamp.

So, grab a set of these phone lenses, and you can take your own pictures! I still recommend getting a professional to do the main pictures, but for small updates or seasonal pictures, a set of lenses is way cheaper than a professional camera.

Check in

Self-check in is required to be labeled business ready, and for good reason! Travel plans change frequently, and it is hard for guests and hosts alike to coordinate key hand offs.  By making it self check-in, you will earn more stars from guests in this category.

As my dad says, KISS (keep it simple, stupid!).  You don’t need fancy bluetooth locks, and please don’t make your guests download a separate app in order to unlock the door.  A basic, kwikset electronic lock is easy to use, simple to change codes (we have the cleaners change ours manually weekly), and the batteries last for ever.  It’s also really easy to install!

Another aspect of check-in is how welcome your entry way is.  A simple way to make your entry more welcoming is to use simple decor, such as a door sign like this one:

Cleanliness is one of my least favorite categories – probably because it is one of the hardest for me! I am naturally a messy person, so cleaning up for guests is a stretch of my natural abilities.  Luckily, there are several products out there that were made for people like me!

So this little handheld vacuum literally does it all.  It’s a wet AND dry vac, sucks up chunks of things, and is a pet hair eraser.  I wish the charge lasted a bit longer, but overall it’s my favorite of the handheld vacuums I have tried over the past 3 years. I got one about 9 months ago and it is still going strong

My other favorite cleaning product is a magic eraser.  It really is magic! Gets rid of all these random spots on the wall, does magic for a glass shower door, and has saved my life when I thought my countertops were ruined from a sharpie gone rogue.

One of my biggest fears is having my phone run out of batteries while I am waiting for an Airbnb guest to check in.  But ever since I got an external battery, I’ve always had a backup! This one is super small, easy to tuck into your bag or even just leave in your car.  Then you never have to worry about not having enough battery power to answer your guests.

Check out this nifty and reasonably priced external battery HERE
